Band of Horses Biography
Band of Horses was formed in 2004 by guitarist and vocalist Ben Bridwell and his friend and fellow guitarist Mat Brooke. The pair had originally been in a band called Carissa's Wierd before Band of Horses.
They began their Band of Horses careers by opening up for fellow Sub Pop artist Iron & Wine in the Seattle area. After signing with Sub Pop in 2005, Band of Horses released their Tour EP that was only sold at shows and Sub Pop's official web site. The debut, full-length record entitled Everything All The Time was recoded in '05 and released the following year to mostly positive press.
In july of 2006, Mat Brooke left the band. During the following year, in 2007, Band of Horses released their critically acclaimed record entitled Cease To Begin. Paste Magazine voted Cease To Begin one of the top ten albums of the year. It eventually led to many tracks appearing on television and other marketing media such as movie trailers and video games.
